Canada’s airports welcome Marsha Walden as head of Destination Canada

Ottawa, ON, August 20, 2020

The Canadian Airports Council welcomes Marsha Walden to the role of president and CEO of Destination Canada. Before accepting this appointment, Mrs. Walden had been president and CEO of Destination British Columbia since 2013. Throughout her career, she occupied several executive positions, notably with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and BBDO Canada.

“We are pleased that Ms. Walden was selected to lead Destination Canada” said CAC president Daniel-Robert Gooch.  “Canada’s airports look forward to working with her and her team to grow tourism and travel demand during our economic recovery and beyond.”

Destination Canada creates marketing campaigns designed to showcase the best our country has to offer in collaboration with partners in the Canadian tourism sector including the airport community. In 2019, a record year, over 22.1 million visitors spent more than $105 billion in Canada.

“Canada’s airports frequently partner with tourism marketing organizations such as Destination Canada and its provincial, territorial and municipal counterparts to promote travel.” said Mr. Gooch. “With travellers facing a 14-day quarantine and closed borders, it is critical that we all work collaboratively to seek new opportunities and to safely and quickly ease travel restrictions.”
